The Roswell incident is probably the most famous and controversial extraterrestrial incident of all time.
Several weeks during June and July of 1947, UFOs sightings had reached what seemed like an all time high. Then on July 3 (some say the 4th), 1947 one of these flying saucers crashed near Roswell, New Mexico.
On July 8, 1947, the Roswell Daily Record’s headline read “Roswell Army Air Field Captures Flying Saucer on Ranch in Roswell Region.”
The article went on to say that the wreckage of a flying saucer that had crashed on a ranch in Lincoln County around, and had been recovered and taken to the Roswell Army Air Field.
However, that afternoon the military held a press conference and said that the wreckage was just a crashed weather balloon.
In 1980 The Roswell Incident was published by Charles Berlitz and William Moore. With the publication of this book a great interest in the Roswell story took place. More investigators came to search for clues. Testimonies were recorded and what seemed like a government cover-up emerged.
As the story became more popular, several things were missing from the government’s story about he weather balloon. The government admitted to testing secret high altitude radar balloons at Roswell in 1947. Then in 1997 the Air Force said that the “aliens” that some people claimed to have saw were nothing more than test dummies used in the crash tests.
Many people came forward with incredible stories of how the government threatened to kill them and their families if they talked about what they had saw at the Roswell incident. It was also reported that a radio station received a threat from the Air Force to be shut down if they broadcast the Roswell story.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the material from the wreckage was very flexible. They said that if you balled it up, and then let it go it would return to its original size. Other testimonies said that there were five bodies recovered from the crash.
There is a problem with these testimonies, they don’t all agree on where the saucer crashed, how discovered it, and several other factors. This leaves one to wonder if they are making the stories up as they go along, or if it did happen and they can’t remember exactly what they did see.
Later in 1995 videotape emerged showing two doctors performing an autopsy on an alien body. This videotape was said to be the autopsy of one of the aliens recovered from the crashed saucer. However the alien in the videotape closely resembles that of the fake alien made for the TV movie Roswell.
Recently though on a Sci-Fi (or TNT can’t remember) channel original show, the videotape was shown to some of the best special effect people in Hollywood. They were astonished at how well the videotape was done. They said that they would have been proud to produce something that would appear that realistic.
